rX - moments of modem madness

A day long interface between old and new technologies where electronic music, experimental live performance and multi-media artists are streamed over the internet while thery perform live in The Cube. New media installations, digital theatre, webcasting, dj's, forums and cyberspace subversion collide in real time and the whole world is invited.

 

 
 

Performing artists included:

Alexi Shulgin, a moscow based artist who manipulates redundant PC's, synchronisestext into speech and midi synth engines. Featuring '386DX', his cyberspace pop group playing anthems of the pre-digital world.

Andi Freeman and Jason Skeet introducing their software-performance earShot that morphs websites and internet text into rhythms and samples

Plymouth based collective GM3 experimenting in digital audio - the possible future of music and interactive sound.

Highlights included:

4pm: Future Radio and irational.org host a forum and workshop discussing the opportunities for radio transmission using the web and demonstration of web casting and audio streaming. Free of charge - drop in.

7.30pm: Performances featuring Alexi Shulgin, Andi Freeman and Jason Skeet, and Plymouth Collective GM3. Tickets £5/4 conc

12-11pm: webcast
