Arteries - Gina Czarnecki |
|||
|
During her residency at PVA, in the market town of Bridport, Gina Czarnecki encountered many local activities, ranging from the fishing net and rope making industry to medical imaging at the local hospital. Her resulting video installation alludes to the layered threads of experience, communication and exchange that operate in a small community, both social and personal. In her piece, connections are sometimes direct , at other times hesitant, dying out, offering no contact or change. PVA is a nationally recognised artist-run centre whose commissioning and residency programme gives artists the resources, opportunities and space to make work.Housed in Bridport's Literary and Scientific Institute, it offers a glorious mix of new technology surrounded by architectural decay. Exhibited at PVA, December 2000. Gina Czarnecki's work is one of five Cross Country Commissions developed by DA2 in partnership with key locally based organisations.
